The peril that is Facebook.

Ok, now, some of you will be aware by now of what Facebook is, and for that I only raise my eyebrow at you.

For those of you who are as yet unaware, Facebook is yet another social networking site, designed to let people who know people congregate on the internet and exchange interests, photos, and other crap.
It also has this wonderful capability called applications.

Now, what Applications are, are ways to completely waste your time doing utterly pointless things, with the capacity to spread themselves in the manner of a virus.
For most of them they actually require you to spam people in your “friends” (I use the term lightly, as it’s usually a whole heap of people you’re loosely connected to and probably don’t even know, but somehow they think they’re your friend) in order to progress.

The problem with these types of “games” is that people end up having tremendous amounts of spam, so much that facebook actually capped invites and added the capability to completely ignore invitations from apps.
This is good, as I hate having to click ignore for things.

Anyway, this leads me in to this. I’m currently spending a lot of my time playing a few “games” at this moment.

First are the twin games Blood Lust, and Elven Blood, which are essentially the same game, except one’s a post-apocalyptic vampire setting, and the other one has unicorns and elves and shit.

The other game is Dungeons & Dragons 4th edition: Tiny Adventures.
This “game” is officially supported by Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, and has proven so popular they had to get better hosting to deal with the network traffic.
Basically choose your class, which gives you a set statline and restricts what gear you can equip.
You then get to buy and sell equipment, which alters your statline, which often doesn’t matter as only stat-mods are used to determine how well you go.
Then you get to go questing on some pre-scripted scenarios, earn gold, loot and experience with the goal of getting to level 11 and retiring your character.
This game keeps breaking and is slightly unbalanced.
It’s also fun.

But yes, facebook, less complicated than World of Warcraft, costs less money, and is more time consuming.
It also contains all sorts of weirdos, like me.

If you like wasting time on pointless webgames, go there.

Just don’t add me.

Well originally I wasn’t going to be going to DV8 on this saturday the 9th of August due to a LAN event, however I’d totally forgotten I said I was going to be at a mate’s 21st on that same night.

Now I was meant to go to another mate’s birthday last sunday but totally forgot due to saturday night drinking.
So I figure I shouldn’t miss this one. It’ll look bad.

So yes, after birthday shindig we’re planning to move over to DV8.

Much alcohol will be consumed in huge amounts.

Also, my mate Spike, who DJs at DV8 (10 till 12 set this sat on floor 1) has a band, that band is playing on wednesday, you should all go and see them because he is metal and wants me to spam people with it.

The more people who turn up the better supposedly, they’re recording it or so I’ve been told.

So anyway, go to DV8 this saturday and every saturday as it is awesome, and come to the gig on wednesday as Spike is awesome.

Review: Mother of all energy drinks.

Well this is a small first time review of something because it was there, I was there and well it was cheap.
What I’m talking about is Coca Cola’s second attempt at the energy drink market, AKA Mother version 2.0

Now as I’m a gamer, naturally the assumption is that I consume energy drinks, and in this case that’d be right, I do, fairly constantly with the occasional day where I don’t drink them.
They are my lifeblood, or something to that matter.

Not only do I drink them, but I go out of my way when I see a new one to try it to see if anything can top my choices of V or Red Eye, and naturally they usually disappoint.

So tonight I went to the supermarket with the intention to buy some supplies and possibly my second bottle of V (I forgot the first one that I purchased at the fish and chip shop.)

What should I see before my eyes, but a big black can called Mother.

Now the majority of people who’ve tried the initial version in the white can will attest it’s absolutely foul, a failed experiment by Coca Cola, though I’ve heard if you think of apples while drinking it that it makes sense.

So what do we have but a big black can claiming it’s “completely reformulated” and it “tastes nothing like the old one!”

It also basically sounds like if you drink anything else, you’re a girlyman and a pussy.

Anyway, now on to what people have been waiting for, what it tastes like.
At this point I haven’t even opened it, so here I go.

Can opened like any other, no extreme smells or explosions.

Getting closer it seems to smell like a generic guarana drink, which makes sense as it contains guarana extract.

And now to lift this huge black thing up to my lips in a non homo-erotic way and taste it.

Hmm, well it doesn’t seem offensive to the mouth on first taste, is similar to pretty much every generic energy drink.

Bubbles hit the front of my tongue so I’m tasting with the back, and well it seems ok.

It’s nothing special, but it’s nothing horrible either.

Looking at it I’ve a feeling it could work quite nicely for jager bombs as it’s 500ml, generic, bubbly, sweet, all those things.

It looks like Coca Cola might have found something and implemented it right.

  • Calling people weak if they drink an alternative.
  • Xbox huge can of 500ml, not much shorter than a V bottle, but much larger than the 440ml cans that other companies are using.
  • Tastes nothing like the old one much as their claim.
  • Tastes nothing like Black V, AKA coffee flavoured V.
  • Similar pricing to a bottle of V
  • Nothing like the old drink.

So there you go, cheap, generic tasting energy drink in a huge can.

So if you’re a size-queen and want a lot of the stuff, go for it.

Now to see if I can get it in a four pack or something, could just come in handy at a LAN.

So have no fear, drink it, mix it with alcoholic drinks, go crazy with it, it’s good shit.

Now to finish the can, if any negative impacts happen due to it, I’ll be sure to post them.
This might take awhile.

Well it has been a long and sleepless past week.

First I turned 27 as I already posted. I managed to get a Boost for my birthday and all, so kinda special.

Then over the next few days I had issues with getting up late and stuff, eventually staying up from 9:30pm on wednesday night all the way till thursday night when I crashed out totally.

Friday it was when the Beerkips struck. Suffice to say the turnout was larger than expected.

Let’s see, that night a had around 3 vodka and Vs, a sip of peppermint vodka (that stuff is hideously vile, transmission fluid would be better) and of course a Jager Bomb.
Not exactly a heavy night of drinking, but then I don’t usually touch alcohol.

A good night indeed.
Not to mention it was fun watching the normals start to walk in to the bar (270 Russell Street, So Bar, go there) and then walk out when they realised the roleplaying/lanning/channing crowd alongside the metal backing tracks.

There was also fire.

Of course I only got around 3 hours sleep that night as brutalis crashed at my house on the spare bed before wanting to try and get to his fiance’s place by 11… then of course I went to help run my Mage: The Awakening game at the same bar that evening, before heading to the Requiem game before piking out.

I crashed early that night due to a headache and got around 12 hours sleep prior to packing my gear on sunday morning and driving to south gippsland for a lan.

I’m not really sure what the lan was called, other than it was in Leongatha with a bunch of people I haven’t really seen in years, but it was awesome.

I will expand further on things when I need to, but that’s good coverage methinks.

Also R4N is good at spilling drinks over everybody, and Wolfmother is good at not holding his alcohol within himself.

Cubed… I am Cubed… Cubed I am!

This is just a small post to inform the world that as of an hour ago, I am Cubed.

Now for those of you without a clue it’s simple, 3 to the power of 3. AKA 3 Cubed.

This is also my current age today. Though technically I should wait another 10 hours or so, I don’t care.

It’s my birthday and I am 3^3.

So far I have received some decent quality wool slacks and a fancy black shirt I can wear when I go out and stuff.

And thus I remind you all, that birthday celebrations will be on the 6th, not before, not after, but the 6th.

Alas that date isn’t magical, but what can I do, my age will just have to suffice.

So go to the So Bar on 270 Russell street on Friday, and enjoy my being Cubed.

Birthday Beerkips 3^3: Fuck Yeah!

I’ll make this quick and simple as I am eating chicken kievs right now and don’t want them to get cold.

On Monday I turn 3 cubed, or for the less geeky, 27.

This is a significant number for me, so I figure I might as well advertise for people to come and celebrate it with me.

Most days of the week don’t work, as people need to work and study, thus I selected Friday the 6th of June as the night of Beer.

It’s going to be held at the So Bar at 270 Russell Street from around 6pm, until something like 1am.

Mage The Metalling pt. 2

This is just a small reminder for people, and to let anyone else who might be interested know.
Basically we’re once again running weekly mini-games at our usual mage venue.
Sparks is now available for them, and well it gives people a chance to get together and hang out as well.

Now surprise surprise, unlike usual, some of the others and I agreed on a bit of a premise for tonight.
Usually the characters end up doing a simple bar crawl looking for trouble, but for a change we have something different.
A set bar, location and host of sorts.

Awhile back there was this wonderful metal club hosted over on Exhibition street on Thursday nights called Ragnarok.
Despite the fact that it’s essentially something else somewhere else in the real-world, I figured this could work quite nicely.
As for a reason why your character might be compelled to visit this location on such a night, think of it as a twist of Fate.

OOC premise is basically we get together, take care of whatever needs to be taken care of, downtime stuff etc.
Kicks off sometime after 6pm (depends really when people get to the venue) at 270 Russell in the CBD.

And unlike usual, the music should be significantly different to your standard bar scene.
I hope you can stand it.

Or just come along anyway, mage player or not, and hang out with good people.

Mage: The Metalling

Well been awhile since last post but I’ll try to put things in perspective in a way you can understand.

The local Mage game now has sessions on Thursday nights where people can take care of stuff once more.
Metalocalypse is Awesome
I am creating a mage inspired by Dethklok to host this Thursday’s session for fun.
The session requires a backdrop of brutal music to provide ambiance and set the mood.
It must be Brutal.
