Dattebayo, and while I respect them, they lead to me spending money.

Anyone who’s paid attention to my posts in the past would no doubt have noted that I’ve been watching anime fansubbed by Dattebayo.

Unfortunately I’m not sure I’m going to keep following their work, simply because of the fact that what remains, I’m rather unfamiliar with.

In case you hadn’t been keeping up with trends, recently Crunchyroll got broadcasting rights to Bleach, and previously Naruto Shippuden.
Thus, since the series were now readily accessible to the non-japanese masses, as well as the increased risk of Cease And Desist orders, Dattebayo promptly dropped them.

This of course shows they have integrity.

The problem is this, for the past two hundred and seventy odd episodes of Bleach I have grown used to their particular translations and way of doing things.
Their karaoke for the opening and ending credits, their notes about the meaning of unusual terms.
Basically their entire product package.

I like their work.
I like the way that if they discover they’ve done something wrong, they rectify the issue and release a fixed product.
I like the way they ban complainers and their inane chatter.

And now in order for me to get my weekly fix of Bleach and Naruto (which are also both being subbed by Narutoverse) I’m forced to turn to Crunchyroll.

Sure it gets me access to the episodes an hour after airing, sure their translations aren’t terrible, sure I can access them pretty much anywhere I want.
What I can’t currently do is view the episodes on my TV using my WD-TV Live, as it doesn’t have the ability to stream from Crunchyroll.

I’m quite happy paying a monthly access fee to crunchyroll, but sadly in order to watch the episodes from them I have to bring a computer in to the equation, be it with a web browser, or the Boxee client.

This has ended up with me watching it from Crunchyroll on Boxee (supposedly they’re working on a stand-alone media box called the Boxee Box, but I don’t see why I shouldn’t be able to stream to my WD TV) and then later downloading them from Narutoverse for convenience.

Still, I shall Dattebayo’s choice with Hakuouki a chance, I’m grabbing the first episode right now.
And if it’s as awesome as 07 Ghost was, then most likely I will continue getting my anime crack from DB.

Damn you Dattebayo, go and make me spend money why don’t you.

AmK.

I’ve been a bit busy, surprisingly, I found ways to waste my time, a lot of my time.

So I’ve been rather slack in posting anything the past months, I guess I got a bit pre-occupied with things and distracted, but I’m back, especially since I just renewed my domain for another year.

So what’s been happening that I can talk about.

Well lately I’ve been playing Star-Trek: Online, I have a lifetime subscription, and well you should be able to find me in-game under the name @AmKhaibitu.
All going well STO will be successful, as it’s the 2nd gamble I’ve taken of the sort, and hopefully the connection of the ill-fated Bill Roper will not kill it as fast as with Hellgate: London.

My Steam game list has reached rather impressive levels, something like 330gig in space, outdoing all my friends and establishing my e-peen as huge.

I recently bought and played Aliens Vs Predator, the new one, not the old ones. Playing as a Xenomorph is awesome fun, predators are as well, but not quite as awesome.
The Harvest command is great.
To be honest I don’t know what the Australian Classification Board was so worked up about, it’s actually rather tame, and nowhere near as excessive as I was lead to believe.
I mean come on, it must be a bug because when I decapitate people as the predator I’d be expecting a shower of blood, yet somehow the head/skull manages to detach, with a complete spine sticking out at a 90 degrees. A bit ludicrous at times.

But basically I have way too many games to play, it’s nuts. And I blame the sales for it.

Next month I’m going off to the Emilie Autumn gig here in Melbourne, ticket is ordered and everything, it’ll go well with my t-shirt, book and tote bag that I received last month finally. Here’s hoping there’s some new material.

I’m also currently listening to the new Dark Tranquillity album, which has an awesome sound, well worth a purchase, and if I can find a limited edition or similar, it will be mine.
Just wish I could crank the volume, but it’s almost 2:30am, so I might be nice to my neighbours.

Anyway, I’ll post some more reviews and rants later, I feel it’s time to slaughter something.

Keep on keeping on.

Cannibalism: It’s Finger Licking Good

Now, some perceptive individuals might have noticed I’ve been a bit silent lately.

I do this from this from time to time.

But this time, I have a good excuse, some of you may of heard of it.
It goes by the name of Fall Out 3.

Yes I have FO3, no I have not finished it, I’m taking my time, seeing the sights and blowing the fuck out of supermutants.

Oh and eating people.

That’s right, eating people.

You see, in the game, when you gain levels, you get to select perks.
These grant you some small bonus or ability, and in this particular case it’s that you can gain health back by eating human bodies.

Think of it like recycling. I can’t exactly go leaving all those bodies lying around after I’ve looted them can I?
Of course not, that would be irresponsible.

I get to use every bit of my enemies, such as their armour to repair my armour, their weapons to repair my weapons, their ammo to replace the ammo I shot in to them, so it’s only natural to eat their body to repair my body.

This logic is flawless.

Ok, sure it doesn’t remove the body, but I can pretend it’s not there after I’ve eaten it, it is a roleplaying game after all.

Oh yeah and I can drink blood for health, but that’s nowhere near as cool as eating people.

Anyway it’s time for me to sleep after a hard night of chowing down on Talon Company mercs.
I post something else after I wake up about other stuff.
I just thought I’d tell you all how cool being a cannibal is.

Horror Movies, my how they make me lol.

Well just this thursday past I ended up with the night spare, as what I was meant to do fell through.

So anyway, I was about to go and catch a train when I saw a poster for Dying Breed.
I recalled that I’d previously seen the trailer for it at Saw V, and that I was interested.
I noticed that it had opened that very day and thus decided to go and see it.

A friend of mine was on his way in to the city, so I called him and informed I’d be sticking around longer due to going to see a movie, and he asked if he could tag along. I could see no issues as I don’t mind company, so I said yes.

To put this in perspective, this is a guy who doesn’t watch horror movies, who’s also fairly young.
So for him to agree to see one, I thought it would be interesting enough.

Eventually he met me near the cinema, we arranged tickets and had a snack.

And in to the movie we went.

This is one that didn’t follow the usual moves, no high body count or some highly obvious monster or anything like that, just a few people out in the middle of nowhere.

But suffice to say it made my friend scream and jump in to an adrenaline surge.

But kudos to him for staying for the entire thing, though at one point he came close to bolting and was a quivering heap for the rest of it.

It puts it in perspective that even though I watch such things to lol and for amusement, there are some people out there who turn in to puddles of jelly, like my friend.

Now I just need to show him some other fun movies, like Mirrors and so on, and see if he can grow a spine 😀

Embers of Sanity, this weekend at DV8 Nightclub.

Well it sometimes helps to know people, as sometimes they give you a heads up about something.

In this particular case it’s my good friend Spike Therion of Embers of Sanity.

Now I’ve been a bit slack, but a few days ago he transferred a copy of the flyer for the band’s latest gig to me over MSN, and as the premium blog posting about their exploits it’s my duty to post it for you all to see.

Embers of Sanity - 8th of November at DV8 Nightclub.

Embers of Sanity - 8th of November at DV8 Nightclub.

Now in case it’s not clear from the text on it, that’s DV8 Nightclub at 12 McKillop street, which runs between Bourke and Little Collins streets and is situated between Elizabeth and Queen.

Now if you have any issues getting there, here is what you do:

  1. Go to the intersection of Bourke street and Elizabeth street. This is easily identified as it is located at the end of Bourke Stree Mall (big area you can’t drive on).
  2. On one of the corners is a Commonwealth Bank (it’s a T intersection, only so many corners), cross to it.
  3. Head up the hill till you reach McKillop Street, it will be on your left. If you are on the same side as the Macdonalds, then you have ignored step 2 and should become an hero.
  4. Turn left in to McKillop Street and walk down the resulting hill in front of you. If you end up at Elizabeth street again, you have once again failed.
  5. Walk down McKillop Street until you reach the sign indicating DV8 Nightclub, this should be rather obvious due to the large security men and large mass of smokers wearing black.
  6. If you did not bring any photo ID proving that you are aged 18 and over, turn back at this point, otherwise negotiate your way past the bouncers and proceed past the line of smokers until you reach a set of steps which will be on your right.
  7. Climb the steps and enter the foyer, in front of you will be located a cash register with a nice lady behind it who will quite happily take your $12 entry fee (if you forgot to bring money, you will have to turn back at this point) and to your left will be a staircase.
  8. Pay the nice lady with legal tender, she will then stamp your wrist if you succeeded at this step.
  9. Walk up the stair case and find some music you like, eventually all the way up the top on floor 3 will be Embers of Sanity.
  10. Try not to die.
  11. ?????????????????
  12. Profit.

Now, these instructions should be fairly clear, if you have any issues with them leave a comment and I will make sure to explain to you where you failed to understand them. But they are quite clear.

Now, if you should happen across a strange guy in his twenties wearing black with long blond hair, and no eyebrows, buy him a Smirnoff Double Black, as that’s me and I helped you to the den of loud noises, alternative girls and decent drinks and you should reward me with alcohol.

At the very least you should say hello.

I might be wearing some red glasses or have fangs, and I have a penchant for wearing either my Static-X/Ill Nino or Soul Fly t-shirts.

Hopefully I’ll see some of you strangers there if you didn’t somehow get lost along the way.
You could always click this link.

Don’t say I’m not nice to you, I am, and I made it so easy for you to get there it’s not funny.

AmK.

Ways to spot a troll.

Well many of you might be aware that Dattebayo like to release what they like to call “trolls”

These so happen to be things that aren’t what you think you’re downloading, and are something totally different.

So here are a few things to help you notice and identify that something is indeed a troll.

  • The filename for the torrent. Now, if it should contain a YHBT prefix or an extra N that shouldn’t be there, such as nns###.torrent, then it is most likely a troll.
  • If the release name is slightly odd, such as Naruto Soulpuuden, then it is a troll.
  • If it’s a release of something that’s not meant to be out due to the series having a break for a couple of weeks, then it’s most likely a troll.
  • If it’s in MKV format, most likely a troll, as they don’t like MKV.
  • If they’ve stated that they’re not going to sub something for around a year after release, and then they supposedly release it, then it is a troll.

These are just a few small tips.

Download the trolls all the same as sometimes you get some interesting new viewing material.

If I’ve missed anything, feel free to let me know via a comment about it, and I’ll add it to the list.

Dattebayo, oh how you amaze me sometimes.

Now, despite previous claims about how Dattebayo hate MKV and will not release in it, just this recent friday they decided to use it for their fresh sub of Naruto Shitpooden: Suicide Bonds.

Now I have one criticism there, that being the intro was at surprisingly low quality, I had difficulty following the lyrics.

Other than that, a top notch product, and I hope you continue to bring such marvelous gems to my eyes, I was quite captivated by it and watched it twice just to try and make sense of it all.

Please continue to do so in future, and don’t mind the squeamish, I don’t.

So for those who like quality japanese material with a dash of mind-fuck, go and download Suicide Bonds, just don’t blame me if it hurts your poor little stomachs or heads.
